Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between social support and rehabilitative motivation among disabled individuals in community. A study of 285 community-dwelling Korean individuals with acquired disabilities in 6 different provinces of Korea was conducted through structured questionnaires from January to March in 2010. The hypothesized model was tested using structural equation model to identify a model which best fits to the collected data. The analysis indicates that selfefficacy mediates the relationship between social support and rehabilitative motivation. Self-efficacy contributes to the improvement of rehabilitative motivation in individuals with acquired disabilities. Therefore, social work interventions in the process of rehabilitation should target on the enhancement of self efficacy beliefs, activation of social support, use of motivational interviewing, etc.
